Why I Stopped Making My Bullet Journal Pretty with Katie
October 1, 2017Hello friends! It has been heavy in the swing of things as the students return to classes and instructors begin teaching again – which means I have been buried in to-do’s. Β Usually my weekly bullet journal layout can handle the tasks I have, but since the school year started I’ve needed to adapt my style a little bit – more on that later – in my trusty Rhodia notebook. In that spirit, Rhodia and I have been having fun partnering so we’re back with another bullet journal giveaway!

1) @chelseas_way 2) the most rewarding thing I’ve found about using the bullet journal system is that I’ve found it really keeps me accountable for things I have to do. I have focus/attention problems, and can get way off on the wayside if I don’t have a sort of “guide” to follow.
@bsharky
Iβm brand new to bullet journaling so Iβm loving following people on Instagram for ideas! A reward is that I can mix it up each week and change my layout.
Thanks for the chance to win this cute planner!
Hey Jessica!

The most rewarding about bullet journaling is seeing on paper all my projects and their progress, I love seeing my activity trackers full at the end of each month.
I’ve been bullet journaling for about 6 months. Before this I planned with apps on my iPhone, but I was never 100% satisfied.
Getting back to paper has been wonderful: I can customize everything, plus writing and drawing is very relaxing!
@mino1910
Iβve been bullet journaling since September, so Iβm pretty new to all of this. The most rewarding part is that seeing all the pages Iβve made and the feeling of organization!

2) I love writing things down on paper, but got too distracted with trying to be artsy. I think I’m ready to give bullet journaling another go, but make it my own and not worry about being creative.

2. I’m new in the bullet journal art (I consider it an art) but as a mother of twins I have to keep track of my shores and appointments, the reward moment is when I realize that I’m in fact saving time programming myself doing a bullet journal so I spend more time with my little ones.
My instagram is @blushyfaces. The most rewarding thing about the bujo system is that itβs so simple and to the point that I can easily find things and notice patterns with just a quick glance at my pages.
1) look out for @sammevej ! 2) my sister’s been bujo’ing for over a year now, and I love her spreads. I’ve always been too afraid to start myself because I thought I’d find it too had to persevere and give up. I’m giving in now though, and am starting to journal as well! So perhaps my biggest challenge for now will be starting, finding my own voice and style, and persevering.
Thanks for the opportunity to win a Rhodia – I’ve read so many great reviews. Can’t wait to potentially own one!
@anastrikic
My bullet journal has helped me stay organised, something I definitely wasnt able to do any other way. I have ADD and I like being involved in a lot of different things but I never manage to finish them. BuJo has managed to help me organise my college studies, two organisations Im a board member in, all of my travels and work that I have while still being the creative soul I am because I love to draw and decorate. It has helped me focus so much and whenever I get bored of it I can just change the layout and it suddenly becomes so much more interesting.
@kay_jee
Hello, the most rewarding thing about bullet journaling – apart from being more organised of course – is the monthly get-togethers I have started organising with any of my friends who bullet journal or would like to start. We meet up and set up our pages for the next month, exchange ideas, eat some nice food and have a good social evening. It’s lovely, and very supportive on lots of levels. We were all admiring someone’s Rhodia book last night at our latest meeting so it would be great to win one to show everyone next month!
Thank you,
Kerry

2. The most rewarding for using the bullet journal systemen for me is that i’m not messy any more and I feel like i have everything that i need always by my side in my bullet journal. It Just helps me staying organisedπ
@deniseliveshere
I love the freedom of a bujo. While a standard planner is fine, it’s nice to be able to include random thoughts, goals and other notes in one place. My struggle is finding the balance in making my journal nice looking but not a time consuming craft project.
My instagram handle is @hannahmoconnor. The most challenging thing for me with bullet Journaling was finding the layout that worked for me. Once I found that I have really gotten so many things done as king as I keep up with it. I am almost done with my current bullet journal so this would be perfect!
@ajbeani
It’s been super fun to see all these different designs and ideas. It’s a creative way of tracking things.
@pinklovespurple
I love that I have complete control over my planner — primarily the layout, which I can grow tired of quickly (and have often abandoned other $60 planners after a few months). The same is true as a con, though, because I have control over the layout, but sometimes I fall flat on execution and my spreads don’t turn out as pretty as the could in a pre-printed option o.0
@jenn_goblue
most rewarding = checking items off
most challenging = only 24 hours in a day
1) @tishushu
2) the most challenging is trying to βoutprettyβ all the bujos I see on social media. Iβm over that now, and stay pretty consistent and minimalist.
the most rewarding is the encouragement from the bujo community, particularly the planwithme challenge! β₯οΈ

I just started bullet journaling around 3 months ago. The thing I have found most rewarding is that it has unlocked a creative side of myself that I didn’t know existed. I utilize my journal for planning, but the thing I enjoy most is trying new spreads, and gaining inspiration from others.
covenantmama
I keep misplacing it. π
1) @yzzy_livin_life
2) the most rewarding thing has been feeling like I know what I am doing and have done each day – feeling less scattered. Huge win! Most challenging thing has been consistency and migrating each month!
1) @la_principessina
2) start Bullet Journal in Jan 2017 and felt in love of It
Good luck
Definitely check out Hand Lettered Truth.
I’ve enjoyed keeping track of things I wouldn’t have otherwise (movies I’ve seen, books I’ve read, etc).
@heidimalcolm (on Instagram)
I’ve just learned about bullet journaling and so have started following you and others to learn how it works. I like the creativity that goes into every page and am hoping it will help me to keep my life better organized. I have not started yet. But am excited to give t a try. @chananlie
@margivan. The most challenging thing for me with bullet journaling has been consistency! I’ll plug along great for a while, then I won’t open it for weeks! It’s almost like I get too busy to stop and just do what needs to be done.
Zschescke is my handle and I think consistency has been the most challenging thing about bullet journaling, but when I am consistent I notice that my life just feels more orderly. I love the sense of organization and structure it brings to my days.
@brightlyimagined
Letting go of being a perfectionist! I think that was the most challenging part of bullet journaling and has also been the most rewarding. Nowadays, I just remember that each journal, each page, and each day is a fresh, new start. π
Retiredgal60
Besides keeping me on track, the most wonderful thing is the creative outlet it has provided me. Iβve joined a whole new world of drawing pencils & pens, along with beautiful markers and doodles. Thank you for the giveaway. I have my fingers crossed!
@sunriseplans
I love that I’m not limited to one layout or already each week/month etc. Also, I have spent hundreds of dollars on stickers and decorations for me Erin Condren planner. With a bujo, I can be creative without someone tons of money. I can simple incorporate all of the neat supplies I have sitting in my craft room. I think it’s great to look back on a bujo and appreciate the time, patience, artwork and organization used.

2) Using the bullet journal has helped me to manage my illness ( I have fibromyalgia) as well as being a way to see the good things that I am grateful for.
1. @meggodecks
2. Most rewarding – I used my bullet journal to plan my wedding. It was a great way to track payments, due dates, possible vendors. I did several collections for venues, florists, and budget. I did monthly wedding tasks lists. It really helped planning such a large event and kept the planning fun instead of stressful.
Most challenging – the last couple of weeks I have been working I ton of hours, so I haven’t had time to bullet journal or finish weekly/daily pages. This makes me feel guilty and induces anxiety because I feel like I am forgetting something. However, I just remind myself that the beauty of bujo is a fresh start is just a page turn away!
@breanamichellecarter
For me, the hardest thing is finding a layout that I like enough to stick with. One that meets all of my needs and looks pretty. But thatβs also what I love about the bullet journal. I have the freedom to customize depending on my current needs :).
1. @readsusieread
2. I am a far more organized person now. Which makes me better at my job that I love.
@sharon1216
Although I do get more done now than before I used a BuJo…I still struggle with doing the things I know I should do (like exercise!). I write it down every week and still don’t do it! argh…
@day_of_planning
Before using the bullet journal system, I carried 3 planners just to keep track of my busy college life. Using this system allows for the flexibility and organization that I need to do well in school.
@joecatholic
The most rewarding experience I have had using the Bullet Journal system is sharing it with our incoming freshmen class at orientation. It has been a delight to see all of them embrace the Bullet Journal. Two days ago I overheard a few of them talking about upgrading to dot grid and one exclaiming, “I’ve never been so excited about paper and pens.”
My Instagram handle is moonbby_xx.
The biggest challenge that I have faced would probably be finding the right pens to use – minimal ghosting and no bleed are important to me. I’ve also struggled to find the perfect layout for me to use in my weeklies, but what I’m currently using works decently. Another bug challenge has been finding a journal I love. I started with just a mixed media sketch book from Hobby Lobby, nothing fancy, blank pages, spiral bound. I’m currently using a Moleskine because I received it as a gift, but quite honestly, I hate it. The paper quality isn’t that great and almost all of my favorite pens either cause a LOT of ghosting, or bleed through a page completely.
What is most rewarding about using my bullet journal is being able to keep track of my health – meds taken for the day, infusion, if I flushed my port, etc. I used to have sticky notes everywhere with tiny check lists and I always managed to lose one, or forget about one and not do what was on it. I love that everything is contained, organized, and easy to find and use in my bujo.
@genegeek
Love getting things done with bulletjournals and then crossing them off. The worst thing is the jealousy of pretty pages and feeling inadequate when mine are just plain
@janellenmay
I have discovered my inner artist I didn’t know existed!
@letterfool | The most challenging thing for me is keeping up with journaling regularly. I get too caught up with trying to come up with filler content that I get a bit overwhelmed, fall behind, and give up for a bit. I love the productivity being able to cross things off a to-do list though!
1) @bullet.journal.julia 2)Most rewarding is sharing my journal with my friends and family. Their reaction to it is always different and I love it. They get inspiration from me and I love when they begin their own inspired by my journal.
@midori_bujo
Most challenging: goal setting and reviewing it when I do finally set a goal.
Most Rewarding: the journaling. I re-read some of my end of day journaling and some are raw emotional moments captured on paper, while others are joyful memories of what my daughters’ have done.
@jodamad
I think the most rewarding thing is finally keeping up with my tiny journal (we had a ten year diary but always ended up scrambling to catch up with a week or more of empty days.
@jujumontag
The most rewarding things for me is, hands down, are the freedom, the flexibility and that the system is so forgiving. It’s been said a lot but it’s so true for me. Nothin else as worked so good. I love having my months in overviews and the space to put memories and other things behind in one place. And when I’m struggelig for time like now I can go in and set up September in October, no biggy!
1. @spacegeekxd
2. For me, I use my bullet journal to keep tabs on what’s happening in my life but also to focus more on what I WANT to do. Thanks to the many goal setting techniques and self care spreads for the bullet journal, I’ve focused more on myself than I ever have. Learning more about how I tick, organization-wise and emotion-wise, has been a great eye opener.
1.) @susannasen
2.) I have been working through my first bullet journal since January and have found so many rewards! Most notable are the flexibility of finding what works me (also a challenge); the awesomeness of looking at a record to reflect and focus; and a creative outlet.
Thank you for the chance to win this beautiful notebook!

2) the most rewarding part for me has been finding a system that is flexible enough for my hectic life but also grounding enough to help balance my mental health.
@suescribbles
Love being able to add some creative journaling to my to do list. I also add the days events so I can look back on how I spent a day/holiday whatever…….so much better than a diary ππ
Thanks for the chance π
1) livia4liv
2) The most difficult thing for me with Bullet journals has been accepting that for it to be useful for me with productivity I canβt always make it look beautiful. I have gone back to the original Bullet journal method without frills while Iβm busy and will sometimes set things out when I feel calm and good.
I’m @sasa_torregrosa on IG. I use BJ on my work, so it’s really usefull to have everything on the same place. I don’t try it to make it look prety o perfect, just be useful. And it is. The most challenging for me is remebering to plan my weekly layouts on advance (I need to work with an eye on the next week, usually).
Devi.spirit
The most challenging thing about bullet journaling is reminding myself that as much as I LOVE the beautiful layouts I see on Instagram, as long as my bullet journal remains functional, that is the most important thing. I am always on inspiration overload! The most rewarding thing is that it really keeps me on track, and encourages me to journal at least a bit every day. My life is much more organized.
